Talk Money Week

Between 6 – 10 November, the Money & Pensions Service “Talk Money Week” is encouraging everyone to Do One Thing that could help improve your financial wellbeing. It doesn’t have to be huge … it might be as simple as checking that your pension provider has the correct contact details for you … or you might decide to talk to your child about pocket money. Once you have decided on your ‘one thing’, tell everyone about it and encourage others to do the same! #DoOneThing

Despite the current spotlight on household finances, talking about money remains a taboo. People find it difficult to open up about money and pensions worries, and don’t access the expert help available to help them find their way forward.

Pension Wise offer free, impartial pension guidance to anyone over 50 that has a UK-based defined contribution pension pot. Their specialists will explain how each option works and the other things you need to think about.  They’ll also explain how each option is taxed and provide information about how to look out for scams.   Pension Wise is a service from MoneyHelper, which is backed by the government.

The Greater Merseyside Money Advice Partnership aims to increase the provision of debt advice, particularly in areas of high financial exclusion across Merseyside and the Liverpool City Region.  Providing more ways for people to access advice such as face to face, telephone and email, it is now also making it easier for people to make the first contact with advice services. If you need some debt advice, getting in touch is easy. You can find your local office or complete the online form to arrange an appointment.
