The temperatures are dropping so now is the time to think about how to reduce your energy bills and make the most of your money:
- Turn down the thermostat and programme your heating for throughout the day to ensure your home is warm
- Switch off lights in rooms that are not in use
- Bleed radiators to ensure they are working well and don’t block radiators with furniture ensuring the heat can circulate
- Turn off any appliances when not in use, instead of leaving on stand-by as they are still using energy in this mode
- Draught proof your home to ensure that heat is not escaping as this will increase you energy consumption and raise bills
- Wash clothes at a lower temperature, cut down on the amount of washing cycles you do each week and try to use tumble-dryers less
- Monitor energy usage – this can help to highlight when you are using more energy throughout the day and help to make change
