From 6 April 2024 the £90 Debt Relief Order fee was abolished. This will make it easier for clients in financial difficulties to apply for DROs, where the fees have been a barrier to them taking the option, or they had to wait for a decision when applying for a charitable grant to cover the fee.
Additionally, from the 28 June, the qualifying debt total increased from £30,000 to £50,000 and the car value increased from £2,000 to £4,000. Overall, we hope these changes will mean those that are seeking debt relief now have an option available to them to obtain this.
